Our Child and Youth Care Centres (CYCCs) greatly benefit from volunteers who offer specialised services at no cost. There are various ways to get involved—either through direct interaction with the children or through indirect support activities—that can make a meaningful and lasting impact.
Direct involvement
Weekend parent / family placement
This opportunity is designed for short-term engagements aimed at providing special experiences for children from less fortunate backgrounds. Approved parents or families will host multiple children for day visits or weekends, to create memorable events rather than long-term relationships. Your involvement will bring joy and a sense of belonging to these children.
Holiday Parent
Families participating in this program will undergo a thorough screening process. This placement focuses on fostering long-term relationships between families and children. We aim to match families with children in a manner that nurtures supportive and enriching connections.
Care of the carer
Our dedicated child and youth care workers often face long hours and challenging situations. We encourage volunteers to appreciate these incredible individuals by treating them to a coffee or offering words of encouragement. A simple gesture of gratitude can go a long way in recognizing their extraordinary contributions.
Birthday celebration uncles/aunts providing eats and treats for a specific child’s birthday
Become a special “aunt” or “uncle” by celebrating a child’s birthday with treats and festivities. This initiative is geared towards making birthdays memorable for children who might otherwise go unnoticed. Although these heroes often remain anonymous, their kindness makes a significant impact on a child’s life.
Homework assistance programme
We seek volunteers with specialised skills to assist children facing learning challenges. Volunteers will be paired with specific children and are expected to commit to at least two contact sessions per week to ensure consistent progress and support in their educational journey.
Mentoring and support for a care leaver
Every Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) has care leavers with unique needs as they transition out of care. These requirements may include obtaining essential documents like ID, opening bank accounts, and securing a learner’s driver’s license. Your mentorship can guide them through this crucial stage of life.
Specialised Care programmes
We are in need of pro bono services to provide specialised care to children. This includes play therapy, psychotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, as well as dental and general medical services. By volunteering your skills, you can make a significant difference in a child’s well-being and development.
