Engo is a non-profit, non-governmental welfare organisation that primarily operates in the Free State, offering essential care and counseling to children, families, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and patients in need.

Formally established in 1967, Engo’s roots trace back to 1902 with the founding of the Charlotte Theron Child and Youth Care Centre in Bethlehem. With over 100 years of dedicated service, Engo has become a cornerstone of support for South African communities.

As the second-largest charity of its kind in South Africa and the largest in the Free State, Engo positively impacts nearly 200,000 lives annually, serving people across all races, cultures, and age groups.

Engo operates with a strong foundation of core values, including courage, excellence, honesty, integrity, care, and empathy. Guided by a Christian ethos, the organisation strives to create eternal hope and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves.
