About Us

Huis Emily Hobhouse Aged Care Centre is located in Koppies. The Centre is named after Emily Hobhouse who started a lace school in Koppies during the war years. Some of the lace is still preserved at the Centre today. Koppies is a small rural town located in the Free State along the N1 highway. Neighbouring towns include Parys, Sasolburg, Heilbron and Kroonstad. The Centre provides excellent, affordable housing and care facilities for the elderly. Here, an elderly person can enjoy a quality life in a peaceful, safe environment surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Accommodation

Whether you are looking for independent living units or need assistance with frail care, there are several housing options available.

Self-catering apartments

These apartments are available to rent and are suitable for people who can live independently. Residents are responsible for cleaning the apartments themselves. The options here consist of:

• 9 x Bachelor apartment
  An open plan room with a bedroom, living room, kitchenette and bathroom.
• 8 x One Bedroom apartments
  Separate bedroom with bathroom, kitchen and living room.
• 14 x Large bedroom apartments
  Spacious bedroom with en-suite bathroom, large living room and kitchen.

Rooms with semi- and full-care services

Semi-care Rooms

These apartments and rooms are suitable for people who can live independently and enjoy three meals a day in the dining hall. Coffee and tea are also served daily at 10:00 and 14:30 in the lounge. Each room has an intercom system with which they can call for help. The rooms are also cleaned daily, and laundry is done.

• 14 x Single rooms
  Private room with a basin in the room. Bathrooms are shared.
• 2 x Double rooms
  Spacious room with 2 beds and a basin in the room. Bathrooms are shared.
• 2x Apartments
  Separate apartment with a spacious room and a bathroom.

Full-care Rooms

Residents of these rooms enjoy 24-hour care by trained staff. Medication handling and administration are offered here. This is ideal for persons who are bedridden or wheelchair-bound.

• 7 x Single rooms
  Private room with a basin in the room. Bathrooms are shared.
• 4 x Double rooms
  Spacious room with 2 beds and a basin in the room. Bathrooms are shared.
• 2 x Four-bed rooms
  Spacious room with 4 beds sharing. The room has a basin and shares a bathroom.
